The Kennedy family compound in Hyannis Port, Mass., stands as one of the most iconic properties in U.S. history.

The place was rented by patriarch Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. back in 1926 and the family added on to the property since purchasing it as the decades have gone by. Now featuring three distinct houses sitting on six acres, the property is not just a spot for scenic summer getaways, but it also serves as a family hub during huge events. It was used as the base for John F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign back in 1960 and several weddings have been held on the property — Maria Shriver’s to Arnold Schwarzenegger back in 1986 and Sarah Kennedy’s 2023 nuptials to Jam Sulahry.

The Kennedy compound has also served as a fortress during sadder times. President Kennedy’s sister, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, was laid to rest at the neighboring Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery and when Ethel Kennedy died in 2024, the family returned to Hyannis Port for a funeral mass nearby at Our Lady of Victory Parish.
