Adria Arjona trains daily with cardio, weightlifting and boxing to prepare for her undisclosed role in Man of Tomorrow
She credits boxing for boosting her confidence and helping her master stunts and choreography on set
The actress says that she’s never felt stronger and loves seeing her body transform
Adria Arjona‘s upcoming film has her excited to spend more than three hours at her daily gym sessions.
In a new video for Women’s Health released on Thursday, Sept. 3, the Onslaught star broke down her workout routine while preparing for her mystery role in the upcoming Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow. The 34-year-old joked that it’s a “horrible” regimen and people shouldn’t try it at home, but she’s been feeling stronger every day.
“I wake up. I do cardio for about 45 minutes,” she said. “Then I do weightlifting for about two hours. Then after the workout, I’ll have a bite to eat. We’ll box for six rounds and then I eat again. And then I eat and I eat and I go to sleep.”

“It’s a job,” she continued. “I’m really enjoying it. I’m enjoying the transformation, but it’s hard work. I’ve never felt stronger, but it’s hard. The excitement of playing the woman I’m playing gives me everything I need to wake up. Physically, it’s exhausting, but it’s all for the greater good.”
Arjona said she loves watching her body transform and seeing herself get stronger. She said her inspiration is to just be a “better version of myself than I was the day before.”

The actress then gave more insight into her boxing and how important it’s been for her fitness journey. She said she’s been working with her boxing coach, Nikki, for the past 10 years, even when she’s not preparing for a specific role.

“I’ve been boxing for years now. I think it’s something that allows me to get out of my head,” she said in the clip. “You have to be so present at boxing because you can get punched. Boxing has made me so confident. Nothing makes you more confident than punching something and hitting it hard. Hearing that pad, you’re like, ‘Hell yeah, I’m powerful.’ ”
“I think boxing has taught me that I can learn things quick,” she added. “So it makes me feel really confident when learning lines or learning certain combos or even doing stunts. I feel more confident because throughout the years I’ve been able to learn these combos. They stay with me. When I show up to set and have to do a stunt choreography, I just feel strong.”
Arjona’s role in Man of Tomorrow is still unknown, although there have been reports that she is set to play Maxima, a warrior queen who thinks Superman is her perfect mate in the comics.
The sequel, which was written and directed by James Gunn, will pick up after the events of the 2025 Superman film, which introduced David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as Superman and Lois Lane, respectively. Although Nicholas Hoult‘s Lex Luthor is returning, the film is set to introduce another longtime Superman villain, Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.
When it comes to working with longtime friend Gunn, 60, Arjona told Women’s Health, “He’s just the coolest dude. I mean, he’s a mastermind. He’s brilliant. I love it, because I think when you come into a project, you’re like, ‘Oh, how’s everybody going to be? Hi, nice to meet you.’ You’re building relationships. And this is my first time where I already have that relationship. We’ve already worked together.”
“What I’m realizing is just full trust. There’s no building of the trust. The trust is there, and starting a new job and being like, ‘Yo, I trust you blindly,’ is really exciting and really beautiful. I love it. I love the fact that I can just show up to work, and trust, and have no doubt, because I know that he’s got my back,” she continued.
Man of Tomorrow is scheduled to premiere on July 9, 2027.
