Benson Boone surprised Megan Moroney’s fans at the Barclays Center in New York

Moroney brought the “Beautiful Things” singer out during her Cloud 9 Tour after she performed her hit of the same name

Benson Boone and Megan Moroney know all about beautiful things.

On Thursday, July 9, the 28-year-old singer performed her single “Beautiful Things” while onstage at the Barclays Center in New York before surprising her fans by bringing out the 24-year-old so that he could join her for a duet of his own “Beautiful Things.” Moroney’s song is featured on her Cloud 9 album, while Boone’s track is included on his 2024 debut album Fireworks & Rollerblades.

The New York crowd went wild as Boone appeared, and their applause grew louder once fans realized the familiar tune.

Many in the stadium sang along with Boone until Moroney also joined in for the ballad.

“Why not ‘Beautiful Things’ twice in one night?” Moroney asked the crowd after Boone left the stage.

“A SIDE QUEST,” one person commented on footage shared to Instagram by PEOPLE. Another wrote, “beautiful things squared.”

Last spring, Boone opened up to Rolling Stone on what it was like to have “Beautiful Things” become such a big song.

“I mean, it’s the reason I’m here,” he said of the single in March 2025. “Like, it is the reason this year has been a big year. It’s not really a song you can half-ass, you know?”

While it may have topped the streaming charts, the “Mystical Magical” singer made it clear that he wanted to be known for more than his biggest hit to date.

“I think I’m getting to the point where I just want people to know that there’s more than just that song,” Boone said. “I think I’m a little past that point. But of course I still love the song. I’m still proud of it. And I’ll be performing it for a while, so I hope that feeling sticks around.”

On Thursday night, Boone showed his support during the sweet surprise and not only matched Moroney by wearing pink, but also wore merch from her Cloud 9 Tour. The U.S. leg of the tour began on May 29 in Columbus, Ohio, and ends on Aug. 21 in Nashville.

Moroney announced the tour in December 2025, two months before the Cloud 9 album was released.

“It’s the most excited I’ve been about an album release so far, and I think it’s because I [had] the most time to work on this one,” Moroney said in a PEOPLE StyleWatch cover story.

The record is “written from a perspective where my feet are really planted,” she said.

“I feel really confident with where I’m at in my life and who’s around me,” Moroney told PEOPLE, noting her music is “sassy” with an air of sarcasm in some of the songs.

The “Six Months Later” singer teased Cloud 9 as her best work yet.

“This is my best foot forward for where I’m at, and if you don’t like it, then you just don’t like my music, and that’s okay, because I really love it,” she said in November 2025, adding, “And I’m the one that’s got to get up there and sing it every night.”
