Harry Potter has cast its series Dobby, Ginny Weasley and Tom Riddle for season 2

Lenny Rush will star as Dobby, Bonnie Hill as Ginny and Billy Barratt as Tom

The first season of the HBO series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, premieres on Dec. 25

New additions to the wizarding world of Harry Potter have been made.

On Friday, Sept. 4, HBO announced the casting of Dobby, Ginny Weasley and Tom Riddle for the second season of the series adaptation based on J.K. Rowling’s bestselling books. Lenny Rush will star as the house-elf Dobby, originally voiced by Toby Jones. Bonnie Hill will play Ron Weasley’s sister Ginny, a role previously portrayed by Bonnie Wright. Billy Barratt was cast as a young Tom, making him the first actor cast as Voldemort in the new series.

Hill’s casting comes months after Gracie Cochrane, who stars as Ginny in the first season, exited the series due to “unforeseen circumstances.” In a statement to PEOPLE, Cochrane and her family noted that the decision to step away from the role was “challenging.”

“Her time as part of the Harry Potter world has been truly wonderful, and she is deeply grateful to Lucy Bevan and the entire production team for creating such an unforgettable experience,” the statement said. “Gracie is very excited about the opportunities her future holds.”

Rush, Hill and Barratt — who holds the record as the youngest International Emmy winner — join Kit Harington among the season 2 cast additions. Harington will star as Gilderoy Lockhart. He was cast after Nicholas Hoult dropped out of the project.

HBO released a new trailer for season 1 of the series, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

“There is nothing special about Harry Potter – or so his Aunt Petunia tells him. But when a mysterious letter of admission to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry arrives, it opens the door to a hidden world of magic, friendship and adventure,” the logline reads. “Yet behind Hogwarts’ enchanted walls lie dark secrets. Harry must find the courage to prove himself against the darkest wizard of all.”

The Harry Potter cast also includes Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter. Also in the cast is John Lithgow as Professor Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall and Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone premieres Christmas Day on HBO.
