Joy Behar, 83-year-old comedian and longtime cohost of *The View*, balked at 37-year-old colleague Alyssa Farah Griffin for invoking her age during a panel discussion about the mystery surrounding Sen. Mitch McConnell’s health.

After moderator Whoopi Goldberg introduced a Hot Topics discussion on Wednesday about McConnell’s health amid the senator’s retreat from public life amid his hospitalization in mid-June, Griffin attempted to make a point about aging — and used Behar in her argument.

“Because this keeps being an issue, we have to find a way to have a conversation about the age and health of some of our aging members of the senate and our government, without people just shouting ageism and shutting it down,” Griffin, a former Donald Trump White House staffer, said.

She continued, “I don’t believe in age-capping who’s in elected office. Our own Joy Behar is an example: Everyone ages differently. She’s as beautiful as can be,” while the audience laughed and Behar made a face at the observation.

“No, you look amazing, you’re sharp as hell, not everyone is like that!” Griffin said, before Behar paused, appeared to mouth something to someone off-camera, and quipped, “Biatch!”

The cohosts and studio audience laughed as Griffin attempted to recover, telling her peer, “It was a compliment! Okay, my point being, everyone ages different. I don’t think it should be a number.”

When the show returned from a commercial break, Behar said she wanted to make sure that reports on the incident didn’t categorize it as “evil” because she’s a “comedian,” while Griffin said, “You can roast me any time, Joy!”

The “biatch” comment came weeks after cohost Sara Haines pointed out on the show’s companion *Behind the Table *podcast that Behar recently became annoyed with her for placing her hand on the back of Behar’s chair when the cohosts walk out to the Hot Topics table at the start of each episode, because she didn’t like feeling as if Haines was being overly cautious about her physical abilities at age 83.

Behar famously tumbled out of her chair live on the air in 2022, prompting the show to get rid of its swivel seats and replace them with sturdier chairs shortly thereafter.

“25 years that has never happened! Who do I sue?” Behar joked at the time, while Goldberg joked about the incident. “We can’t even say you can’t have another glass of wine,” the actress said. “It takes a glass of wine to get *in* the chair.”
