Maria Bartiromo's ‘possible paths' outlined after shocking Fox Business firing

Maria Bartiromo has other potential paths she could pursue following her firing, according to an online reputation management expert.

The 58-year-old Fox News and Fox Business host parted ways with the company on Thursday, September 3. On the day, Fox News Media announced in a statement, without an explanation, that "effective today," Bartiromo was no longer with the media company. They then thanked Baritiromo "for her work over the last 12 and a half years and wish her all the best on her next chapter."

Status reported that the alleged reason for the journalist's termination was an incident in July in which Donald Trump touted his debunked conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election during his primetime address. The outlet was told by sources that Fox News had issued instructions not to give credibility to the 80-year-old president's claims. Bartiromo allegedly leaked that information to the White House and showed the network's text message after being pressed on why they weren't covering Trump's claims. The alleged action violates her employment agreement by disclosing confidential company information.

Scott Keever, CEO of Reputation Pros, spoke with the Daily Express US about other "possible paths" Bartiromo could take following her dismissal.

"She still has a recognizable personal brand, which is valuable. The question is where that brand travels best. A move into independent media, podcasting, streaming, Substack-style commentary, or another network would all be possible paths," he said.

"But she would need to decide whether the next chapter is built around financial journalism, political commentary, or loyal-audience media. Trying to blur all three may make the brand harder to reposition," he continued.

"Her strongest reputation asset is that she is widely known and has decades of television experience. Her biggest challenge is that search results and public discussion around her next move may be dominated by the controversy of the exit rather than the substance of her career. That is why the next 30 to 60 days matter. If she allows the story to stay focused only on what happened at Fox, she loses control of the narrative. If she quickly anchors the conversation around what she is building next, she has a better chance of moving from 'former Fox host' to 'media brand with a next act,'" Keever added.

The entrepreneur then advised, "For any public figure leaving a major platform, the best PR move is to create a forward-looking story before the old story hardens in Google, social media, and AI search results."

Keever also noted that "the key is not to look reactive."

Fans of Bartiromo will just have to see what she does next. But her attorney, Bryan Freedman, claims to Daily Express US that reports that Bartiromo was not fired by the company and is no longer an employee "are absolutely and unequivocally false."

"Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise. Those reporting her firing or the incredulous facts supporting that fiction have exhibited a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth," Freedman added.
