Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are back in the U.K. with their kids and are expected to stay for an extended period. Their relationship with the royal family has been strained for a long time. Harry’s book Spare and the Oprah Winfrey interview further cracked the family ties.
Harry did express a hope for reconciliation in the future. Meanwhile, many eyes are focused on how Markle will approach Kate Middleton.
An insider revealed hopes for a reconciliation but only on Markle’s terms. She will probably be more cautious when it comes to her relationship with the Princess of Wales. This time, she wants Middleton to make an effort to “earn her trust back.”

Amid tabloid gossip and numerous reports, Prince Harry’s book Spare shed some light on what went wrong between the two. He wrote about their tense interaction over shared lip gloss, Princess Charlotte’s dress being too big, or the colonial costume party dress.
One of the instances was Markle mentioning “baby brain” as Middleton had just given birth. British tabloids reported that this made Middleton cry; however, Markle later claimed during the Winfrey interview she was the one who cried. Moreover, during the interview with Winfrey, the couple alleged that the family made racist remarks about their unborn child.
They also got into a disagreement over wedding rehearsals after Middleton did not remember certain wedding plans. At the wedding, Middleton and Prince William also changed the seating arrangement, and the Sussexes found that rude.
An insider told The National Examiner, “It’s no secret Meghan believes Kate was culpable when it came to some of the rumors about her too,” the source said. “If not directly, she certainly didn’t stick up for her.”

Now that Harry and Markle are back, they may hope to rebuild their relationship with the family. But any reconciliation would be on their own terms. A source explained, “Ideally, she would like it if they could be on better terms, but not if it means she has to beg. Meghan isn’t going to grovel to anybody, least of all Kate.”
Rebuilding their crumbled relationship will take effort and time despite being geographically closer. Markle would want Middleton to take the initiative.
Meghan Markle is Geared Up to Stay in the U.K.
The Sussexes’ return to the U.K. does not mean they will resume their royal duties. Instead, Markle is set to continue her career and her brand ‘As Ever’ with her own team. An insider told People, “She has been vocal about how she felt about it before, but that doesn’t mean things are going to be exactly the same again. It doesn’t mean it can’t be different and can’t change.”
Another insider added Markle is “stronger now than she ever was to protect her — to protect them.” A source close to Markle was worried about the British media attention, as Harry and Markle had previously criticized the press over various reports. As a result, she was unhappy and isolated despite being a working royal. This time, she won’t be working as a royal but will have full control over her career and life.
