New Information on “Storage Wars” Star Darrell Sheets’ Death and Investigation Released: Police Report

Storage Wars star Darrell Sheets was found dead at his Arizona home in April

His death at age 67 was ruled a suicide and local police began an investigation into cyberbullying claims

The investigation into Sheets’ death has been closed, PEOPLE confirms

The investigation into Darrell Sheets’ death has concluded.

The Storage Wars star was found dead in his Arizona home on April 22 from an apparent suicide. He was 67.

An investigation began into his death as cyberbullying allegations were brought to light by his Storage Wars costar René Nezhoda. Lake Havasu City Police Department Sgt. Kyle Ridgway told PEOPLE at the time, “We are aware of these cyberbullying accusations and that is a part of the active investigation.”

The case is now closed, according to a police report reviewed by PEOPLE, and Sheets’ death is still ruled a suicide. “There is no evidence or information to suggest the death was due to anything other than what was listed in the medical examiner report,” reads the incident report, which is dated June 17 and was released on July 8.

The incident report confirms that a suicide note was found in Sheets’ office by police after his death in which he mentioned that he “could not take anymore the Facebook bullying.”

In the days prior to his death, Darrell’s son, Brandon Sheets, had visited him with his wife, Darrell’s daughter-in-law. The visit had been contentious, according to an account from Darrell’s girlfriend, who was in the house with him on the night of his death.

She told police that Darrell and his son “got into arguments” during the visit, and he was “devastated” and “sad as hell” after the visit, per her account.

Darrell’s older brother also spoke to police. He said that Darrell “told him about a stalker that he had while they were texting each other in January.”

Darrell’s girlfriend also told police that the Storage Wars star had been “having a really hard time sleeping.” According to Darrell’s phone records included in the report, he mentioned sleeping issues numerous times to friends.

The incident report stated that, based on his phone records, it was “clear” the A+E star “was struggling” prior to his death.

Darrell’s son paid tribute to his father in an Instagram post a week after his death. “My heart is so broken,” Brandon wrote in the caption. “I love you Dad and I will do my best to live in your honor and respect our family. Let’s all continue to build those memories and keep the legacy that is ‘Darrell (The Gambler) Sheets.’”

“I can’t answer everyone’s questions or concerns right now, I think we all just need time to process and remember all the good that my father was,” Brandon continued. “The love we all have for this man and all his kindness is only a small portion of who he truly is.”
