Rick Harrison underwent emergency bypass surgery after doctors discovered he needed a bypass when he went to the hospital for a simpler procedure

Harrison is recovering comfortably with his wife Angie Polushkin and family by his side at the hospital

The couple, who married in January, celebrated their union with two weddings in Las Vegas and Cancun

Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame is currently recovering from emergency bypass surgery.

A spokesperson for the Harrison family confirmed to PEOPLE on Friday, Sept. 4, that Harrison, 61, underwent the surgery after going to the hospital for what was expected to be a simpler procedure.

“He went in for a simpler procedure and they found he needed a bypass,” the spokesperson said. “He is resting comfortably and looking forward to a full recovery. He is grateful for the doctors and staff at the hospital and that his wife and family can be with him during this time.”

The spokesperson said that Harrison is resting comfortably and expected to make a full recovery. They added that he’s grateful for the treatment he’s been receiving from staff and doctors at the hospital, and his family and wife, Agripina “Angie” Polushkin, have been by his side.

Harrison and Polushkin got married in January. They first wed on Jan. 3 at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas and held an intimate celebration at Harrison’s barbecue restaurant, Rick’s Rollin Smoke BBQ & Tavern, located just steps away from his Gold & Silver Pawn Shop featured on the History Channel’s Pawn Stars.

Just a few weeks later on Jan. 26, the couple walked down the aisle again in a destination wedding at Le Blanc Spa Resort Cancun. “The wedding is a dream come true for me,” Polushkin told PEOPLE at the time.

The couple started dating in early 2024 after they met online. In February 2025, Harrison popped the question to Polushkin in his living room — but because his stepdaughters deemed the proposal not romantic enough, he decided to do it again during a getaway in Chile in March 2025.

Harrison was previously married. He quietly divorced his ex-wife Deanna Burditt in 2020, about seven years after they wed. He told TMZ that despite the split, he “got three great daughters out of it,” referring to his ex’s daughters Sarina, Ciana and Marissa from a previous relationship.

Harrison was also married to Kim Harrison, with whom he welcomed sons Adam and Corey, and Tracy Harrison, with whom he shares son Jake. (Adam died of an overdose at age 39 in January 2024.)
