Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly facing renewed attention surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return to the U.K. The timing coincides with Prince George’s upcoming start at Eton College. Royal commentators believe the Prince and Princess of Wales would have preferred to keep this milestone out of the spotlight. The ongoing story involving William, Middleton, and the Sussexes has sparked fresh debate about the royal family’s public narrative.

Royal commentator Hilary Fordwich claimed Prince William and Kate Middleton have spent years creating a stable and private environment for their children. She argued they likely hoped Prince George‘s transition to Eton would take place without added attention surrounding the Sussexes.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams also suggested Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s return has increased pressure on the monarchy. He told Fox News Digital that unexpected developments often place the Palace in a difficult position.
Fitzwilliams also questioned whether the Sussexes’ return reflects a long-term commitment to Britain. He said the couple has previously presented themselves as “international citizens” while continuing business ventures and travel outside the U.K. The commentator also pointed to the renewed focus on the couple’s security arrangements. He argued that security decisions should be based on credible threats rather than public opinion.

Previous reports also suggested the Sussexes agreed to avoid drawing attention during Prince George’s first day at Eton. Royal broadcaster Neil Sean claimed the couple assured King Charles they would not overshadow the occasion with public statements or photographs. Archewell declined to comment on those reports.
Royal commentator Amanda Matta previously described George’s first day at Eton as more than a personal milestone. She said it represents an important step in his future public role as heir to the throne. According to Matta, competing headlines involving William, Middleton, and the Sussexes could distract from that carefully managed narrative.
Meanwhile, British broadcaster Helena Chard said Meghan is expected to continue traveling between the U.K. and the U.S. She suggested the couple are keeping their long-term options open as they re-establish themselves in Britain.
