Nicolas Cage's Ben Reilly will not return for another season as Prime Video has canceled Spider-Noir after one season. The platform's superhero series, based on Marvel Comics' character Spider-Man Noir, was released globally in May 2026.
Set in 1930s New York City, the series follows aging private investigator Ben Reilly, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city's only superhero (the Spider) after a deeply personal tragedy.
The Cage-led drama series was the first to debut on the small screen under a multi-title deal between Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television. Reportedly, this impressive collaboration is gearing up to develop more projects, raising concerns about a franchise-driven axing.

Cage's first TV role did wonders for Spider-Noir, and it was a hit with fans, with a solid 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Additionally, the show gave fans the option to watch it either in black-and-white or color, adding another layer of intrigue and charm. Spider-Noir's cancellation is especially shocking as it debuted (in second spot) on Nielsen’s US Top 10 for original series in its first week, with 851 million minutes viewed.
Prime Video has not unveiled the reason for axing the series after one season. But reports suggest that the platform is already eyeing the release of another series based on Sony's Marvel characters.

Additionally, with the platform determined to expand its major franchises, fans can't help but speculate that the latest cancellation was a strategic decision. Here's what one Reddit user wrote:
