Rob Reiner has received a posthumous Emmy nomination nearly seven months after his and wife Michele Reiner’s tragic deaths last December.

The legendary actor and filmmaker was nominated Wednesday for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance as Albert on FX’s *The Bear*.

He joins a star-studded category that includes Michael J. Fox (*Shrinking*), Brett Goldstein (*Shrinking*), Hamish Linklater (*Widow’s Bay*), Christopher McDonald (*Hacks*), and Connor Storrie (*Saturday Night Live*).

Reiner, who won two Emmys for his performance on *All in the Family* in the ‘70s, portrayed Albert, an astute businessman and restauranteur who takes Ebraheim (Edwin Lee Gibson) under his wing, in the fourth season of the culinary comedy, which received eight nominations.

The *A Few Good Men* director also received a touching tribute on the show’s recently released fifth and final season, with Ebraheim calling Albert and, in a nod to Reiner’s film *The Princess Bride*, telling him, “As you wish.”

The nomination comes less than a week after Reiner’s final acting project was released. The *When Harry Met Sally* filmmaker appeared as George Washington in a sketch as part of Larry David‘s new HBO series *Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness: An Almost History of America *— and he, alongside Jimmy Kimmel, made sure to roast Donald Trump along the way. The show is eligible at next year’s Emmys.

Reiner and his wife were found dead in their Brentwood home on Dec. 14. Their son Nick Reiner was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection to the fatal stabbing of his parents. He has pleaded not guilty, with his next court date set for Sept. 15.

Nick’s siblings, Jake and Romy, issued a statement in the wake of their parents’ deaths last December. “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,” they said at the time. “The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

The siblings explained that they were “grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received” but urged the public to maintain empathy as the situation continues to unfold.

“We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave,” they concluded.
