- The wife of music producer Jacknife Lee says her husband deleted an invitation to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swiftâs wedding.
- He received a text message invitation to the ceremony from Swiftâs manager, but didnât respond because it sounded off.
- He explained to his wife that he didnât click an attached link because âI guess I thought someone was trying to hack my address book or something.â
Well, thatâs one way to get the wedding blues.
Melissa Garner Lee, the wife of famed music producer Garret âJacknifeâ Lee, revealed in a piece written for the Huffington Post that her husband accidentally deleted their invitation to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelceâs star-studded wedding because he thought it was spam.
Garret, who co-wrote and produced Swift and Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbodyâs collaboration âThe Last Timeâ on her 2012 album *Red*, explained to his wife that heâd gotten âa textâ from Swiftâs manager but didnât reply to it because something about it felt off.
âYeah â remember I told you I got a text from her manager? But I didnât respond to it,â he told her. âIt didnât sound like him.â

When Melissa pointed out that it may have been an assistant who sent the invite, she wrote that her husband appeared apologetic as he simply replied, âOh.â
Itâs safe to say that Melissa, who is a psychotherapist, was stunned by her husbandâs decision. âWeâve been married for 32 years and have lived in the same house all of that time, but apparently we occupy two different worlds,â she added.

Garret later confirmed that theyâd been invited, but that he hadnât clicked on the actual invite because âI guess I thought someone was trying to hack my address book or something.â
As a result, Melissa wrote that she temporarily left the room âreeling in frustrationâ over her husbandâs handling of the situation. When she returned, Garret asked why sheâd âeven want to goâ to Taylor and Travisâ wedding in the first place.
âI wanted to go because it would give me a bit of hope,â she informed him, noting that their nuptials might have given her âhope for love,â âhope for some good in the world,â and âmaybe hope in America at a dark time.â She continued, âAnd I obviously would have loved to hear the musical guests. I mean⊠Stevie Nicks was supposed to play!â
It was then, Melissa wrote, that Garret really understood how heâd disappointed her by not replying to the initial text. She explained that he apologized for the gaffe before trying to ease the sting by informing her, âItâs really hot out there â it wouldâve been hot.â

Spoiler alert: it was not the right thing to say at the moment. âI felt myself starting to lose my mind again,â Melissa wrote. âWe were invited to the wedding of the decade and we didnât go because it might be too hot? We didnât even RSVP âno.â How rude is that? (Sorry Taylor and Travis!).â
In the end, Garret made it up to Melissa by bringing home her favorite meal and giving her a hug and a kiss. And, after taking a moment to cool down, she also acknowledged that their family was dealing with âmuch bigger things to worry aboutâ in their lives than attending Taylor and Travisâ wedding.
âA missed wedding will not be what breaks us. Weâre stronger than that,â she wrote. âStill, it wouldâve been fun to see her dress.â
If it makes Garret feel any better, he wasnât the only celebrity who got bamboozled by the invitation. Maren Morris previously revealed that she similarly thought sheâd received a fake text about Travis and Taylorâs big day.
âI got this spam text a couple weeks ago, and it was like, âYouâre invited to Taylor and Travisâ wedding,ââ the country singer recalled during an interview with SiriusXM Hits 1 Miami With Mack & Jen. âAnd I was like, âIâm blocking this,â because, like, thereâs no way they would send an invitation through a text like this.â
When one of the hosts wondered if it could be a real invitation, Maren jokingly replied, âWhat if I, like, trashed it?â
Thankfully, the âCarry Me Throughâ singer caught on and made it to the wedding in the end, posing for photos and driving to the venue with fellow country superstars Kelsea Ballerini and Miranda Lambert. Taylor and Travis tied the knot in a ceremony held at Madison Square Garden on July 3, with a collection of celebrities in attendance including Maren, Tom Cruise, Machine Gun Kelly, Jennifer Lopez, Nelly, Selena Gomez, and more.
