Tiger Woods "hates" that he cannot drive for five years after being penalized for his rollover car crash in March, but he accepts it is a "small price to pay to get back on track."
Woods avoided possible jail time after an agreement was reached for him to plead no contest to reckless driving, a lesser charge following his initial misdemeanor driving under the influence charge. The 50-year-old, who escaped injury in the crash, registered zero on a breathalyzer test for alcohol, though he declined to submit a urine sample for testing for other substances.
Woods was discovered with powerful painkillers in his possession, and he subsequently spent several weeks at a Swiss rehabilitation facility following his arrest. The crash marked the most recent in a string of road incidents, and he has allegedly received an ultimatum from his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, to straighten out his behavior.

His license was revoked by Judge Darren Steele, who cautioned Woods he would serve time in prison if he committed any additional driving violations.
An unnamed source close to Woods and Trump revealed to the Daily Mail that the 15-time major champion has been affected by losing his license, though he accepts the consequences of his actions.

"As of right now, he has turned over a new leaf, he is looking forward to starting to play again and he is looking forward to moving on and he would love nothing more than to have all of this in his rear view," the source said.

"Speaking of rear view, he hates that he won't be able to drive, because he loves that privacy he gets with being alone, but it is a small price to pay to get back on track. So where he didn't often live by his words in the past, many have seen a brand new Tiger and hope that this version sticks."
The source's remarks follow Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis addressing rumors about Woods potentially being prohibited from operating a golf cart as part of his sentence.
Woods had intended to join the PGA Tour's senior circuit prior to the accident, with the additional benefit of carts being allowed in the over-50s competitions.
He carries an extensive record of serious injuries, especially those sustained in a high-speed vehicle accident in 2021, which remain problematic for him today. He has competed infrequently since then, finding it difficult to walk the course for four consecutive days.
The PGA Tour Champions would reduce the physical demands on his body and provide fans chances to watch him compete once more. DeSantis criticized the idea that Woods might be prevented from operating a cart in a social media message.
"Tiger should be able to drive a golf cart on the golf course," he stated, before continuing in a follow-up post: "People that lose their license aren't typically barred from driving a golf cart on a golf course."
