- Paramount+ has released a first look at *MobLand* season 2 .
- The preview comes amid weeks of drama and speculation involving the status of star Tom Hardy.
- Season 2, also starring Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, premieres Sept. 18.
It seems Tom Hardy and his *MobLand* character have both been feeling the heat lately.
Back in May, word came that the Oscar-nominated actor had been fired from his lead role on the Paramount+ crime series. But a recent update says that Hardy will return as fixer Harry Da Souza after all for a yet-to-be-confirmed third season. And now, Hardy is officially back in the first look at an explosive season 2.
āThis hasnāt exactly been a wonderful 24 hours for me,ā Harry relays in the trailerās opening moment, with a separate scene then showing a gun pointed to the back of his head. āIām under a lot of pressure.ā
Produced by Guy Ritchie, *MobLand* stars Hardy as a loyal problem solver for the Harrigan crime family, which is led by powerful patriarch Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) and his conniving wife, Maeve (Helen Mirren). Season 1 ended with the Harrigan power couple in prison, but in the footage from season 2, they are free and coming out guns blazing.
And yet, with Conrad and Maeveās son Kevin (Paddy Considine) plotting his own takeover of the empire, as well as the reveal that Eddie (Anson Boon) is Conradās son and not Kevinās, Harry declares that the Harrigans are āon the brink of civil warā and āripe for the picking.ā

Hereās the official logline: āThe 10-episode second season will see the Harrigans struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire ā and Harry Da Souza, their street-smart and formidable āfixerā, must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify. As violence spills into every corner of their lives, loyalties snap, safety proves temporary, and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy.ā

When first reporting that Hardy had been fired, Puck said he was often late to set, attempted to change the showās dialogue, clashed with producers and showrunner Jez Butterworth, and wasnāt happy that *MobLand* was becoming more of an ensemble show.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Hardy recently met with Butterworth and executive producer David Glasser, and the dialogue was positive enough to move forward for a likely third season together. And it didnāt hurt that Ritchie was allegedly an important mediator in the situation.

Another key endorsement came from Mirren. While reports suggested that Hardyās alleged tardiness was āfrustratingā for her, she publicly insisted that thereās no bad blood.
āI love Tom, I think heās the most amazing actor,ā Mirren recently said. āDifferent actors have different processes. Iāve learnt over the years that some people get to things faster. As long as whatās on the screen is fantastic, Iām totally chilled with however someone gets there. Tom is a very special person. I think heās absolutely remarkable. My support of him is genuine and heartfelt.ā
Paramount hasnāt commented on the behind-the-scenes drama.
