Travis Kelce Reacts to Prince William's Joke About Cutting Him Out of Taylor Swift's Photo

One of Taylor Swift’s most unexpected celebrity photos is back in the spotlight, and Travis Kelce has now weighed in. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end reacted after Prince William shared a surprising detail about the viral selfie he took with Swift and his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, backstage at her Eras Tour concert in London in June 2024.

The picture, which also featured Kelce, became an instant sensation. But according to William, there was a moment when he wasn’t entirely sure the NFL star should be in it.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show on October 23, William joked that he had wanted a picture with just Swift and his children. “I was trying to move him out of the photo,” William recalled, explaining that Kelce kept returning to the frame. The prince admitted he hadn’t realized how significant the picture would become.

After all, when Swift shared the selfie on Instagram, it marked the first time she had posted a photo with Kelce, making their relationship Instagram official. Now, more than two years later, Kelce has finally responded to the royal’s confession—and he isn’t holding a grudge.

“I get it, man,” the 37-year-old said during the October 28 episode of his New Heights podcast, which he hosts with his brother Jason.

Kelce explained that he and Swift were still dating at the time, and William probably wanted a family photograph that wouldn’t become awkward if the couple eventually broke up.

“I was just a boyfriend at that point,” he joked, adding that he wasn’t Swift’s husband yet. Jason agreed that William’s thinking was understandable. The brothers then took the joke one step further, with the podcast’s graphics team editing Kelce out of the original photograph.

Travis loved the result so much that he jokingly suggested sending the altered picture to Buckingham Palace.

The lighthearted exchange comes after Swift and Kelce married in July 2026, turning William’s original concern into a funny memory rather than an awkward one. And there are clearly no hard feelings between the NFL star and the future king. William has since appeared on New Heights, where the three men reminisced about their first meeting at Wembley Stadium.
