Bank of Mexico cuts benchmark interest rate to 6.50% in split vote

MEXICO CITY, May 7 (Reuters) - The ‌Bank of ‌Mexico on Thursday cut ​its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points ‌to 6.50%, ⁠noting that the decision concludes ⁠a rate easing cycle ​that began ​in ​2024.

The decision by ‌the central bank’s five‑member board, which had been largely expected by ‌analysts, was ​not unanimous, ​with ​three governors ‌voting to cut ​the ​rate and two voting to ​hold.
